As your age increases, your looks go in the opposite direction, but is it really? The truth, however, is that there is no age limit on looking goo, feel sexy and embracing the body. In fact, as you get older, you might just find yourself feeling more confident and more attractive than ever and if you do have not reached that pivotal point of self acceptance yet, follow my tips below. To me 40's are new 20's ;).
1. I hydrate my body well
Beauty after 40 starts from the inside out (been talking about if a lot in some of my other posts :)). Staying hydrated can not only improve the health and condition of your skin but may help you maintaining a healthy body weight too. Water, water, water!!!
2. I skip drying skincare routine
The one you used on your acne prone teenage skin and you will look better in no time. It is important that you choose products that help add and retain moisture. Use a mild cleanser that will not strip moisture and use heavier moisturisers at night (so you wake up to supple, glowing skin) and then lock it all in with a hydrating toner. Use as natural as possible and prepare a diy home face mask to help your skin glow even more. ;) When comes to skin care - to me - it's down to 'less is more' and I stick to what work best for me and my skin.
3. I daily exercise
While staying active can make your body more toned, if you want to look even more attractive try swapping those workouts for distance runs ;) or do HIIT workouts (sure they are my favourites and I - some how - i got addicted to them ;) Better than any other addiction right ;) Just find that 'happy piece' in your daily workout routine. It's all worth it in the end. Beside your body and mind will thank you for!
4. I tend to choose healthier foods and always cook myself
And by that I mean you should start adding more fruits and veggies to your daily meals. It is a long know fact that consumption of fruits and vegetables make people appear healthier and more attractive. ;) Enjoy varieties of fruits and veggies - the options are just limitless ;)
4. Sunscreen is my best buddy
Keeping your skin protected with a little SPF can majorly improve your appearance (trust me, confidence goes with it ;)), especially as you age. Investing in good sunscreen lotion is worth more than anything else, oh yes ;)
5. Skin around my neck is worth taking care a little more
Did you know that neck skin tends to lose elasticity and show signs of aging faster than other parts of the body? Taking care of this delicate skin is therefore very important. Try incorporating a neck moisturiser into your regular skincare routine and help to reduce creepiness, avoid dry skin and irritation. Massage will help too ;)
6. I let my brows growing in
To me, a full brow is very youthful and frames the face ;) As we age our brows start to thin out, lose color, and lay flat. Fluff them up with a brow pencil, powder, or pomade in a matching color using hair like strokes to lightly fill in sparse areas ;). Play around with it and find the style that suit you best. Beside give them a little massage with a drop of natural virgin olive oil before night time. Does wonders to me :)
7. I let my hair just simply be
As hair ages, it gets more brittle and prone to breakage, meaning it might be time to ditch those high-heat hair tools once and for all and embrace your natural texture. I do not brush them a lot. Just put them in a pony tail (specially during the night time) and let them just be once I take that elastic band off ;) Best thing that ever happened to me was 'not to pressuring myself' with hair styles anymore. This one certainly comes withe the age ;)
8. I love my body
If you want to look better and feel sexy after 40, that doesn't have to mean undergoing a major makeover. Instead, play up your assets and try to embrace the way you look now—not how you wish you looked. If you are confident about your appearance, you will not only feel better, you will look better and be sexy too ;).
9. I embrace my body shape
While your body may not look the same as it did when you were in your 20s, that does not mean you should forgo fitted clothing in an attempt to disguise your shape. I do embrace my body in front of the mirror daily and try to feel sexy in that moment. It does boost your confidence and certainly brings good energy flow to your overall body too. :)
10. I try to wear some red too
Give your wardrobe a pop of color and you might just look better in the long run. With some red on you, you can be more desirable and had an increased sense of status. Definitely something you should try ;) Just spicy it up a bit ;).
11. I practise a good posture
Want to make yourself look instantly more attractive? Then try and practice a good posture. Once you adopt a more upright position you will feel and when you are projecting confidence, you will also look more attractive. This sure is sexy all the way.
There are many things out there I practise daily, however the one and the most important to me is to enjoy and embrace the moment of every new day. As long as you do not fight with yourself and over your emotions. Try to find 'that happy you' in whatever you do.
And remember to avoid things that over-stress you long term. Connect with your inner-self and find peace within.
