Happy Birthday ME!

This above all;

'Life should not only be lived, it should be celebrated.' (Osho).

To me, birthdays are super special and I take them quite seriously too. Once I reached 40 I have decided I really will always celebrate me, find that joy in little things and mainly appreciate life. Life that gives me so much love, life that offers so many opportunities and life full of potential - to embrace myself fully and be always true to myself.

Although some people prefer big birthday parties and grand celebrations to mark the occasion and nice gifts (and trust me, nothing is wrong with that at all), however I prefer having an opportunity to experience something new, perhaps travel to a new country or destination, eat food I really enjoy, take some time for me and the family and perhaps try to do something I’ve never done before.

I take the opportunity to use my birthday to reflect on the past year and assess how I am progressing physically, emotionally, financially, professionally, and spiritually and set new goals and intentions for my next 365- days around the sun again. And this really is important to me!

To me, celebrating birthdays opens the opportunity to;

- Express gratitude by being present and appreciating where I am on my journey, all I have and all that you I have accomplished so far.

- Celebrate me, the person I am today and am becoming - by practicing 'self acceptance', 'self regard' and mostly 'self acceptance'.

- Focus on feel good and positive emotions which reduces stress, promotes personal happiness, and contributes to overall personal 'well being'.

- Always practice 'self love' and 'self care' which honors my primary needs - to feel loved, affirmed and valued. (remember this, this is important for self growth!).

- Set new goals by drawing a little plan towards 'my ' new year that follows. Something that will bring joy, happiness but mainly experiences which will help me grow and be a little wiser ;).

So, what about you? What does birthday mean to you? Do you celebrate your birthday?

Would be nice to hear your side too.

And remember, life is what you make out of - it's only up to us and our willingness to try even harder when we fails and embrace moments when we fly high.
