Here is why i love hot tub

Good health can not be bought, but it can be given a helping hand. If you want to live a healthier lifestyle while reducing stress and increasing relaxation, why not consider a hot tub? One of the benefits of hot tubs is hydrotherapy, the use of water to maintain health, is a natural way to treat a wide array of physical and mental health concerns. And I believe there is no better way to enjoy all that in a hot tub, right? ;) The combination of warm water and massage offers a host of health benefits. Let's have a look ;)

1. Relieve sore muscles after exercise

One of the best remedies for tired, achy muscles is wet heat, especially when paired with massage. Regular hot tub use has been found to ease muscle spasms and stiffness, resulting in less pain overall. This is also known as a therapeutic technique called hydrotherapy, which harnesses the healing powers of heat, massage and buoyancy combined. Amazing no?

2. Increase your range of motion

If you suffer from limited mobility, a hot tub can sure help. As the heat of the water speeds blood flow, muscles warm. This is the perfect time to stretch. When muscles are warm, they are much more pliable. Beside regular stretching in heated water can greatly improve your flexibility and overall mobility.

3. Ease your stress levels

Stress can take a major toll on the body. From fatigue and headaches to muscle tension and digestive issues, stress can make you feel rotten. One of the best ways to de-stress after a long, hard day is with a soak in your hot tub. The warmth of the water paired with jet massage relaxes the body while helping ease stress symptoms. One of the top benefits of hot tubs is that it also ups your endorphin production, flooding your body with feelings of 'well - being' while also giving you a boost of energy. Fantastic!

4. Improve your night routine

If you long to get a solid eight hours of sleep each night, using your hot tub can help. In fact, sufferers of insomnia and restless leg syndrome often report a better night’s sleep after hot tub use. And let me tell you, a bedtime routine that includes about 20 minute soak in the hot tub, can go a long way toward improving your sleep quality ;). That is because the heat elevates your temperature and, after exiting the tub, the slow decrease in temperature tells your body it is time for sleep ;) What else would you ask for? :)

5. Detoxify your body

The next time you want to naturally detox, forget about the juice cleanses (green smoothies and all that - sure can do both, however, hit the hot tub instead). The heated water will warm your blood and lymph fluid, causing them to circulate more quickly through your body. This will make you sweat, bringing toxins to the surface. These toxins are then washed away by the water.

6. Boost your immunity

Did you know hot tub use can naturally help your body fight sickness? Aside from healthy eating and regular physical activity, warm water immersion is the best way to stave off viruses. Trust me - this you have to remember if you wish to advance your healthy habits. Beside, as your blood heats and begins circulating more quickly, white blood cells are carried to any parts of the body that are fighting off germs.

7. Have healthy and glowing skin

Regular hot tub use not only helps you detox from the inside out. It can also rid your skin of impurities. As your body temperature rises and you begin to sweat, bacteria, and dirt from the day are brought to the surface. Both, along with dead skin cells are washed away by the water.

8. It can help you maintain your healthy weight

If you want to maintain your optimal weight, using hot tub can help. While relaxing in the spa does not burn enough calories to make a huge difference, the benefits you receive from regular soaks can. Relaxed muscles, better range of motion and higher quality sleep all make a huge difference when it’s time to exercise. The better you feel, the more you will be able to get out of your workout. And, because you will be feeling less stressed, your body will not be as apt to crave sugary or fatty foods. This sure is a good thing no? ;)

9. Could ease symptoms of chronic pain

No matter what your condition, being able to relax in your hot tub is sure to help. Studies have shown that people with arthritis, fibromyalgia, sciatica and other types of chronic conditions can benefit immensely from a daily dip. The heat of the water among with jet massage work to ease tension while stimulating circulation of the blood to injured muscles and joints. This, in turn, decreases swelling and inflammation.

10. Unclog your nasal passage

Nothing is better for clogged nasal passages than steam. Warm, moist air helps lessen congestion in your nasal cavity, alleviating sinus pressure. If your hot tub has aromatherapy technology, using a eucalyptus scent will also help to loosen your sinuses, allowing you to rid the body of mucus and phlegm (my favourite essential oils are eucalyptus, tea tree, lavender, mint ;)). Just pour in few droplets and you will instantly feel release on all levels ;).

And trust me, if you wish to experience all the above health benefits and even more, then I suggest soaking in a hot tub regularly. As a general rule of thumb, you should aim to soak for an average of 20 - 30 minutes several times a week, if not every day. And summer is a good time for that ;) Especially if having hot tub on your terrace ;). Time for soak?

Until next time, S.
