Learning how to embrace own natural beauty is something that more women are gravitating to, particularly as we age. The aging process is not kind to our faces and bodies, so there’s a tendency to want to turn back the clock and return to that earlier, more beautiful self that we keep seeing in our minds. I put effort regularly into keeping my body fit in my 40’s and my face looking as youthful as possible. I would like to keep what I have for as long as I can ;). My motivation for keeping fit, though, is not to change who I am or alter in a drastic way how I look. I have worked hard to accept my body image and curves that in my teenage years I would have given anything to eliminate. Yes, right! Actually, I thank the 'life' every morning that I have all of my working parts and I am blessed.
I do, however, want to make sure that I am focused and motivated to live my best life as a woman over 40! What about you?
1. Teenage years (browse a little through your past)
I wonder sometimes how my youth, my teenage years, may have gone down differently if I had been more accepting of my uniqueness and not tried so hard to fit in with the crowd. But that is what most of us do in our teenage years. There is something to be said for getting older and wiser, and living through the life experiences that help us mature.Embracing our natural beauty by aging naturally is not something that has been taught to us or conveyed by social media in the past, although I think there is a step in this direction, and I am so happy to see it.
What I have learned, and I know for fact, it is that you should enhance your natural beauty every step of your life and should embrace body image as it is - with all the flaws too :). And when you are having hard time to really understand this, simply remember of the famous Sophia Loren quote, which says,
'Nothing makes a woman more beautiful than the belief that she is beautiful.'
2. Embrace your natural beauty daily
The key to learning how to embrace your natural beauty is so simple, yet can be so difficult to achieve, I know, but trust me - it is worth it - worth of your confidence and love you have for yourself. Let's break it down now. The most important aspect of natural beauty to me begins on the inside. And here, you should think about,
- How do YOU see yourself?
- Do you look in the mirror and immediately begin the litany of what you don’t like about the image looking back at you?
Did you know that a negative perception of yourself will show in your demeanor and ultimately on your face?
- Etc.
No matter what answers you get while exploring your natural beauty, remember, you have the power to change how you look and feel. Yes, you can embrace the face and body that was naturally given to you. And if you believe that on the inside, in your mind and in your heart, your natural beauty will shine through. I know, might sounds like a cliche but it is true!
3. Express your positive self acceptance
Once you do it (simply show it with your face) you will actually look more beautiful in a natural and appealing way. When you are not worried about how you look, how others will see you or judge you, then you can simply relax and enjoy yourself, knowing that you are beautiful, and it will show on your face. And remember, when our natural beauty is shining through, there are some simple ways to enhance it while remaining true to ourselves and our natural appearance.
4. Be in tune with your body
Putting effort into keeping your body well-tuned has several benefits. You will definitely look your best, feel better, and help your body remain strong as you age. And the confidence levels are going to shine. But first,
- Drink plenty of water (to stay hydrated, energise your muscles, and keep your skin looking soft and supple. It is so easy to do and does not have to cost anything and the bottom line is, we need water to survive. Simply look beautiful, naturally, by drinking water every single day, throughout the day.
- Be mindful of what you eat (embracing our natural beauty does not in any way mean that we want to look perfect. In fact, we celebrate who we are and how we look, flaws and all. To me, everything in moderation and basically trying to make good (better) choices. You know, changing habits for better ;)).
- Go minimalist on your makeup. It really will enhance your natural beauty, I promise. Beside use less products but natural and those of a hight quality.
- Do not smoke! If you are a smoker, please stop. Today. Now. That is all I am going to say on the subject.
And remember once more, love yourself and be positive about things from within you and around you. Sense the beauty every step you make. Embrace your natural beauty and accept your uniqueness that differ from everyone on this planet.
Until next time, S.
