Omega3's deserve a place in your life after 40

Think of this as an army that will fight off age related ailments. And the best way to build this army is by eating a healthy diet and get into the wheel of some daily exercise. While it's always important to eat well, it becomes especially essential around age 40 because that's when the rules start to change, right ;). Ooh dear.

Let's just put it this way,

'Your body probably isn't working the same way at 40plus as it was in your 20's. Muscle mass starts to deteriorate and we're much more likely to put on weight, menopause may (or may soon) start, and risk of chronic diseases like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes begins to increase, which means your battle plan needs to start looking a little different.'

One solution is getting enough of the right vitamins and nutrients, which is possible through healthy eating, and food sources are typically (but not always) a better bet than supplements because they're better absorbed. However, to me, the omega 3 fatty acid supplements do wonders (and if you're really not taking a proper care of your food intake, reach in omega3 - this comes helpful, trust me).

1. Give Omega3 some attention

Omega-3s is one of those supplements that deserve some attention because of their myriad health benefits, and especially because they help counteract some of the negative changes that come with aging, like increased heart disease risk and cognitive decline. On the other hand, research has shown that omega-3s help lower blood pressure and LDL ('bad') cholesterol levels, reduce the risk of heart disease, and play a role in keeping memory and thinking sharp (and that's something you need right ;)). Beside, Omega3 is an absolute must if you are over the age of 40. There are many other very as they help you build a strong foundation for optimal health.

2. Essential for your overall health

Omega-3 fats are essential to your overall health and have a positive impact on heart and brain function as well as reducing inflammation in the body.

While fish oil supplements contain the 'brain healthy' fats called EPA and DHA, these two are not technically the 'essential' fats. The plant omega-3 known as ALA is essential and that is because our bodies can convert ALA into EPA and DHA when necessary. Omega-3 comes from both animal and plant sources.

- The primary animal sources are krill oil and fish oil.

-. The primary plant sources are flaxseed, chia and hemp.

3. Omega 3’s have been shown to be beneficial for the conditions, such as;

- Muscular degeneration (especially if you are training regularly)

- Inflammation (comes with training and lack of proper recovery and post workout stretching)

- High cholesterol (not following your proper healthy diet and here we are!)

- Skin issues (this one is a big one. Skin after 40 becomes really delicate. For glowing skin this is the n umber one step you have to take into consideration)

- Anxiety and depression

- Arthritis

- Cancer

- Diabetes

- Infertility

- ADHD

- Skin issues (acne, eczema and psoriasis)

Beside, Omega-3 deficiency symptoms can include poor memory, dry skin, heart conditions, mood swings, joint pain and autoimmune diseases. Deficiencies are common in people who consume a large amount of processed foods, hydrogenated oils and those on a vegan or vegetarian diet. Yp.

4. Worth to remember

While all fish have Omega 3’s, not all fish are created equal and the health of a fish is a complex issue. It’s the healthy fats delivered by fatty, oily fish that produce most of the benefits. Fish or seafood without those healthy fats is not nearly as good for you and beneficial to your health. Some of the best fish to put in your diet are the ones we typically overlook in the grocery store.

5. My favourite foods (beside supplements) rich in Omega3's

- Salmon

- Sardines

- Mackerel

- Grass-fed beef

- Flaxseed

- Chia Seeds

- Walnuts

- Natto

- Tuna

- Grass-fed Dairy

Now, it is totally up to you whether you add additional Omega3 fatty acid supplements to your diet or not. I highly recommend it, however, to enjoy and prepare food reach in omega3's can sure make the difference too. Combining both is without a doubt the winner combo for me and my lifestyle.

Either way you are making a choice that can provide your body with a number of great health benefits. Trust me!

Until next time, S.
