Raw yeast healthy benefits

What is raw (fresh) yeast?

It is an ingredient used in the production of beer and bread. It is made from fungus (called Saccharomyces cerevisiae). And it also has a bitter taste. It is used as a nutritional supplement, as it has a rich source of chromium, which may help your body maintain normal blood sugar levels. Good source of B vitamins too ;) & considered as a probiotic, used to aid digestion. Preety awesome right?

Healthy habits

I personally use raw yeast once in a while (as a 'little treatment to my body').

I buy fresh yeast (approx 42g) - and then take a pinch every day until it is all gone.

Once you decide to do it, please make sure you do not consume more than 5g ( I personally take a pinch which is approx 2g each day for the next 10 days - the rest I use for my diy face mask :) of raw yeast per day - this is crucial. otherwise it can cause some potential side effects. (so keep in mind that less is more for sure:)). If not sure how your body functions and you are going to try it for the first time, please consult your GP.

And once again, remember that raw yeast keeps your digestive system healthy and in balance. And only the right amount in your body could help your immune system do its job. Raw yeast is part of a healthy mix of bacteria in your gut. And can help you absorb vitamins and minerals from your food :).

Until next time, S.
