To me, intention setting is empowering. I have learned that instead of feeling like a victim of circumstance, you become the conscious creators of your days and your life. And the feeling you get is awesome. Trust me.
The benefits of setting intentions are manifold, but it's not as simple as wishing on a star or meditating on something you want. Intentions should always be set properly and by saying this I mean, the goals should be set and should be about something that has purpose and will (eventually) pursue your desires. Yes.
We live in busy and fast pace environment and I know everyone has busy, stress-filled, hectic life. You perhaps barely have time to grab a cup of coffee in the morning, so you think there's no way you have time to set a daily intention each morning, and that's precisely why you need to. If you don't set an intention, you let the day determine your mood, rather than taking control and determining how you want the day to be. And to me, if you wish to know, it's all about the 'mind fun.... game again.'
Put simply,
'an intention is an aim or purpose, something you plan to do or achieve — and paying more attention to your intentions can do truly incredible things for your life.'
1. Setting intentions is foundation to anyone with goals
The concept of 'intention setting' might sound weird or like something you'd only do at the beginning of a workout, but it's foundational to anyone with goals — aka most any human being. As you learn and commit to your goals, intention becomes the very first step in achieving them.
Setting an intention is the initiation, the first step into your 'preferred story.' And It is important that your intentions are solidly aligned with your values. Then you have a powerful tool for moving forward and achieving your desires. Beside regular statements of intention also allow you to change courses or adjust the path if needed.
2. Your intentions
Intentions can be both large (think like lifelong intentions, long-term period) and small (think like intentions for the next day or even the next hour - short period). Either way, they need to be specific and actionable. At all times. Just remember when you set an intention, it provides accountability and allows you to take control of your personal choices and life. And to me, it's about being proactive in my own life, by purposely choosing how I want to live it. By doing this you actively live your life with purpose and you become more present within yourself and in your relationships. End.
Just simply remember that when setting an intention, it's like laying the foundation for what you'd like to have, feel, and experience versus just being a passive participant going through the motions. And intentions will provide you with the opportunity to actively participate in your life.
3. Define your intentions
When you decide what you want and /or how you want it, write it down. Again, after gaining clarity on your goals and understanding your values, I would suggest and encourage you taking the initiative by finding a small and repeatable action that moves you toward the goal and expresses a value. Then, state your intention to accomplish that task. Making a statement is essential. It can be declared to yourself and others, or it can be written and posted (whatever, as long as you do it). To me - intentions are most powerful when they are shared or declared outside of your own head. And that's why I write my personal blog, share my thoughts and reminding myself of what's matter most (personally).
4. Keep your intentions positive
Anything can be an intention, yp. An intention simply gives you a focal point to redirect your energy when it's inevitably pushed and pulled in different directions throughout each day. Just make sure that whatever your intention is, it comes from a place of positivity. do you hear me? Positivity. Just be present, take care of yourself, eat healthy, exercise and be happy. Find happiness within you. Rely on yourself and your conscious thinking. Avoid negativity. You are no longer there. Ooooommmm.
5. Intentions should be simple
And intentions should be feasible and realistically actionable. To me, setting an intention is something that's a typical part of my day. I know what I have to do or what I want to do and I make a plan. I am not hard on myself and I am open to simple changes if it does not going exactly to he plan. I am adaptable. It simply means that I do complete tasks through out the day, just times (of doing it) could be differently around each day. I try to stick to schedule but sometimes does not work. As long as you complete tasks for the day and you go to bed with that 'good feeling' you have done your tasks and you will be fine. And trust me, as you get more accustomed to setting daily intentions, they become easier (to complete) and simply become part of your daily routine. Then from there, you can grow into setting intentions for your future, weeks, months, and years down the line. As long as you remember that the same rule remains 'Be specific about what you want, envision it for your future, and feel it deeply. Time will show and eventually - you will achieve your goals.
6. Intentions should be clear
Whatever your intentions are, it's always necessary to be clear about what you want to achieve and think about the results that you'll obtain from it. The whole point is being conscious about where you place your attention — that's the only way to think what you want into reality.
And I know for fact that, if you know what you want, it's easier to focus and put all your energy into it.
7. Mindset matters
All I can say is to reframe your mindset to match your desire with your beliefs. And then watch as your intentions pave the way forward. Period.
Remember, life has its ups and downs, and so does pursuing a goal of any kind.
I know by now that intentions can help you maintain course even when there are fluctuations.
The intentions are there to remind us, each day, why we want to do it and the results we desire.
What are your intentions?
Who do you want to be and or become?
Ask yourself hard questions and watch the world spinning.
And it will only spin in the direction you want.
And remember, do not get carried away from 'sweet distractions' focus on yourself above all and be in charge of your own distractions.
Until next time, S.
