Why I eat salmon every week?

Salmon, in particular, is a good dish if you are trying to be conscious of your heart health. I eat salmon at least once a week and here is why :)

1. Salmon is a good source of protein (perfect addition due to my daily workout regime :))

Did you know 100 grams of salmon provides nearly 20 grams of protein? ;) And protein is essential in helping your body thrive, and not getting enough can lead to muscle loss (not a good thing though). As an adult female I tend to eat approx. 50 g of protein each day. So, if you are seeking of having a toned body and beautiful skin this advise might help you reach your goal too!

2. Eating salmon can help your body regulate your sleep

Salmon also includes an amino acid called tryptophan, which is an essential amino acid for our body and you have to get it from your diet as your body will not produce it on its own. Beside tryptophan helps body make melatonin and serotonin - playing a big part in some pretty important bodily functions, such as our mood regulation and the sleeping-waking cycle.

3. Rich in vitamin D

Salmon is a good source of vitamin D, which supports your body's immune system. Vitamin D can be obtained via sunlight too (summers are fab ;) and foods too. And it is smart to remember that enough vitamin D will help your body absorb calcium (healthy bones right ;)).

4, Rich in glutamine too

Salmon is rich in glutamine - amino acid (a building block of protein) that assists in energy production. Very good to know once yo decide to take on board your workout regime and make it a new way of living ;)

5. Rich in vitamin B12

This vitamin is crucial for preventing over-tiredness. Getting enough B12 is important because a deficiency can cause weakness, tiredness, constipation, and loss of appetite too (and this is not good if you are training daily or you are thinking of getting there).

6. Eating salmon will support your eye health

If you are low on vitamin A, you should definitely consider adding salmon to your daily regime. Salmon is rich in vitamin A, which is an immune-boosting nutrient. And it is important not only for immune function but also reproduction and vision.

7. Salmon is rich in omega 3 fatty acids

Salmon is a wonderful source of omega 3 fatty acids. omega 3s offer a variety of health benefits, including relieving symptoms of dry eye disease, helping manage symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, and improving cognitive function.

There are many other benefits of eating salmon but to me, the most satisfying is that it will not keep my stomach bloated for the rest of the day but will relatively quick digest it. And that, to me, is important as I do not like the feeling of 'being stuffed to death' ;) :D. It can also be easily mixed with other ingredients to create a perfect meal. And my favourite salmon dish would always be mixed with some carbs on side and loads of fresh veggies. The options are limitless. Simply enjoy salmon and take its benefits on board.

Until next time, S.
