Why I use activated charcoal face mask and its benefits.

What I mean by activated charcoal face mask?

A face mask made with activated charcoal is deep-cleansing and well tolerated by most skin types. Activated charcoal is used in face masks because it is an incredibly porous natural ingredient that is known to draw out impurities and balance the skin’s oil production. Typically, an activated charcoal mask will be a skin care product that is applied to the face and left on to deliver a detoxifying effect. (Also, it may feel slightly tight on the skin and, however after 20 minutes of use, can be removed with warm water).

And what are skin benefits of this face mask?

1. Skin balancing

Activated charcoal is the best ingredient for oily and spot-prone skin and helps to regulate the amount of bacteria-attracting sebum that the skin produces. By reducing excess sebum production and removing impurities, activated charcoal helps to stop blocked pores - a common cause of spots.

2. Pore perfecting

Damaged and enlarged pores can’t be shrunk but you can make them appear smaller. Activated charcoal does this by drawing ingrained impurities out of the pores and onto the skin surface where they can be cleansed away.

3. Deep cleansing

The easiest way to understand the benefits of using activated charcoal skin care is to think of the ingredient as having magnet-like properties. Once applied to the skin, activated charcoal attracts dirt and toxins and lures them away from the skin surface to deliver a deep-cleansing action.

Tips on how to use (how I use) this type of mask

Drawing deep-engrained impurities from the skin isn’t instantaneous and for optimum results, I recommend leaving the mask on the skin for approx. 20 minutes. This time period allows heat from the skin and the surrounding atmosphere to dry the mask.

As it dries, it will pull the following impurities out of the pores and onto the skin surface, such as:

- Dead skin cells

- Dirt

- Toxins

- Pollutants

- Sebum

- Sweat

After 20 minutes, the skin should be thoroughly cleansed with warm water to remove any excess mask product, and the impurities that the mask has drawn-out, from the skin. I use the mask before getting into shower so I can cleanse it well with running water.

Also, in my opinion, the mask is good to be used for about twice a month and will leave your skin clean and fresh. Due to its natural eco-friendly ingredients I recommend using the natural source of soap with it too.

Until next time, S.
